Future-Proofing Repton

Business School

The Cattley Building will be refurbished to become a modern Business School with an interactive Digital Classroom, on par with the teaching facilities of leading universities in the world.

Technology will be harnessed to enhance teaching and learning, and foster innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, to ready our pupils for the opportunities of the future. It will also engender greater connectivity with our international family of schools.

Sixth Form Centre

A new Sixth Form Centre will be built in the cloisters area beneath Pears School, bringing together a social hub (incorporating the JCR) with modern open plan workspaces, to prepare our older pupils for the transition to university life and the world of work.

The Grubber

The beloved Grubber will receive a long overdue upgrade, and be transformed into a light-filled café with comfortable seating areas and an expanded menu, whilst still retaining its charm (and sausage rolls!) Pupils, staff, parents and ORs will be welcome to meet and relax here, and enjoy the vista over the Square.

A Wellness Garden will provide a welcome retreat at the heart of the school, where pupils can find some peace from the busyness of daily life, and enjoy some quiet time in nature.

DT, Art & Textiles

In line with the School’s commitment to and love of the Arts, plans are underway to refurbish the Design & Technology Centre and the Art and Textiles studios.

Design & Technology DT Workshop – refurbished to create a modern design studio where pupils will have the space and freedom, underpinned by market-leading technology, to develop the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed for designing and making functional products

Art Studio – modern, light and airy art studio where creativity will be given space to breathe

Textiles Studio – state of the art workspace for budding textile designers or pupils interested in exploring textile manufacturing, interior or fashion design

Supplementary Boarding House

An additional ‘decanting’ boarding house will be built to provide alternative accommodation as each of the ten boarding houses undergo refurbishment one by one, and will set the benchmark for the thermal efficiency and carbon footprint of the other Houses.

As well as overall modernisation and energy efficiency, there will be a focus on wellbeing and optimising spaces for each age group within each boarding house. Once the refurbishment of all ten houses is complete, the new building will be managed by Repton Enterprises and used as accommodation for external visitors using the School’s facilities, for example, school holiday camps. 

Theatre

A complete redesign of the theatre at Repton Prep with expanded capacity will allow the School to not only stage major theatre productions, theatre in the round, dance performances and music concerts, but also provide a flexible space in which the whole Prep community can be brought together, or alternatively congregate in smaller spaces depending on the event.

It will also provide a valuable social space.

Swimming Pool

New facilities at Repton Prep will provide village style changing for 30 pupils, incorporating showers, lockers, and accessible facilities, as well as a new entrance area for spectators and upgraded exterior.

Hockey Pitches

Plans include the addition of a second (half-size) Hockey Astro pitch or an extension to the existing newly resurfaced Astro pitches at Repton Prep.

Prep Wellness Garden

The Wellness Garden will provide an area for pupils who wish to experience a calmer and more reflective outdoor experience during their free time, through gardening, reading or quiet conversation.

Upgraded Prep Boarding

The redesign of the Boarding accommodation will bring a very contemporary feel to each House without losing the heritage and individual charm.

The space will be modern, welcoming, age-appropriate, with a home-from-home feel. The social and breakout areas will be flexible spaces for games, fun, TV or just relaxing.
